The concept of a local cryptocurrency to boost the South of England’s economy came about by a meeting between Chris Cooper (Chair – The Digital South project under the Business South initiative see http://businesssouth.org/site/business-south/Digital-South ) and Sam Lupton (Independent Payment Systems & Telecommunications Specialist) at a Business South conference in Southampton to discuss and promote the Digital Economy.
Key local Universities, Businesses and Local Authorities have contributed to the project and helped define the Legal, Technical and Political framework. Indeed this website was designed & developed by students at Portsmouth University (James Leighfield, Jordan Angol & John Taneo).
